Maynard "Streak" Monroe Irby
Apr 17, 2018Born November 3, 1942 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Willie Nathaniel Irby and Mary Doss Irby.He was also predeceased by two sons, Kevin Michael Irby and Mark Ray Shotwell; four brothers, Carlton Irby, Charlie Irby, Dallas Wayne Irby, and George Sterling Irby; and two sisters, Effie Hardy and Bettie Leffel. Mr. Irby was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and retired from BGF after 42 years of service. He enjoyed dancing, hunting and talking on CB radios.He is survived by his wife, Betty Scruggs Irby of the residence; one daughter, Susan McCormick and husband, Walter, of Hurt; three sisters, Nola Scearce of Danville, Ora Blanks of Hurt and Esther Pearson of Danville; one grandchild, Courtney Rae McCormick of Hurt; and many nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church by Pastor Tim Lane and Tommy Pearson.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12 at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times will be at the residence.Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna, is assisting the family.
